The county seat is named after Warsaw, the capital of Poland. The county has more than 100 natural lakes and is part of the lakes region of North Central Indiana.

  • Warsaw is known as the Orthopedic Capital of the World because of the many orthopedic companies that were founded here.

  • Residents have access to Big and Little Chapman Lakes via a channel connecting these two natural, spring-fed lakes, making it possible for fishermen and boaters to use both lakes with ease.
  • Together, Big and Little Chapman cover 638 acres, providing ample shorelines for lake cottages and year-round homes.
  • Locals frequent Big Chapman to go boating, water skiing, wake-boarding, jet skiing, and pontooning.
  • Little Chapman features over 260 acres of wetlands on its western shore, providing the perfect haven for several endangered species.
  • Both lakes have been stocked by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for the past six decades.
